Fish with the Pioneer of Kayak Fishing in Texas!

Curlew with the kayak rack for great backwater transportation!Imagine quietly paddling around secluded shorelines and back lake marshes, sight-casting to tailing and cruising redfish with everything that you need for the entire day, right there with you!

That's why kayak fishing is so great, not to mention the fact that it's inexpensive, easy to master, and unbelievably effective for fishing the Texas Coast.

Stealthy and efficient, you can fish right from your kayak or use it for transportation to your favorite wading places.  Some kayaks are super fast, some kayaks are super stable, just pick the kayak that suits your body and fishing style for years and years of inexpensive enjoyment.

A kayak fishing trip with Captain Sally is a full day of paddling the back country, usually notJennifer with a beautiful redfish from a kayak! seeing another person all day.  Paddling Ocean Kayak Drifters rigged out with rod holders for both spinning, casting and fly rods, we'll cover some of the most pristine and beautiful country that Texas has to offer.  Below are some of the "must-haves" for a fun kayak fishing trip.

 Kayak Fishing

  • Stingray proof wading boots (Foreverlast, see my "Use what the Capt. Uses" section of this website or click on Foreverlast on the Sponsor page), NO TENNIS SHOES, TIVA SANDALS OR WATER SHOES, PLEASE.
  • Microfiber socks (or ski-boot liners to wear in your wading boots for extra comfort.  No cotton socks, they will get saggy and bunch up in your boots making for an uncomfortable wade, all day long.)
  • Light, quick-dry clothing (no jeans or heavy cotton clothes, trust me!)  White shirts can cause glare if you are stalking redfish up close.  Wear blue, yellow, khaki, etc.  White T-Shirts are not very comfortable because they stay wet all day and can also cause glare.  Long-sleeved fishing shirts will keep you cooler and more comfortable.
  • Rainjacket or windbreaker (Frogg Toggs or other outerwear).  You never know when a storm will come up.  Even in the summer, the rain can be cold.  Always be prepared for bad weather.
  • Small softsided cooler for your drinks and lunch to carry with you on your kayak.
  • Waterproof camera.
  • Bring your lunch in zip-lock bags.  Always bring plenty of food and snacks to eat.
  • IMPORTANT NOTE: When we paddle away from the "mother-ship" in the morning, we will not return until the end of the day.  Be prepared to take everything that you will need for the entire day with you!
